Sandburg Softball to Host IVCC in Region IV Quarterfinals

The Carl Sandburg College softball team will open postseason play by hosting Illinois Valley at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Region IV District B tournament.
All three games of the best-of-three series will take place Wednesday afternoon at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex. The semifinals and finals of the tournament will be hosted by Highland on Saturday and Sunday in Freeport.
The fourth-seeded Chargers (16-30) won three of four against the No. 5-seeded Eagles in the regular season. Sandburg swept a doubleheader at home on March 31, winning 5-4 and 7-4. The teams split a pair of games at IVCC on Wednesday, with the Chargers earning a 6-2 victory before the Eagles took Game 2 2-0.
